Fred Bock Institute: Dedication
Dedication
Service of Dedication for the Fred Bock Institute of Music
About 900 people attended the dedication service for Fuller Seminary’s Fred Bock Institute of Music on Sunday, October 2, 2005, at Bel Air Presbyterian Church. This beautiful worship service featured music composed or arranged by Fred Bock, along with a new hymn text chosen especially for the occasion entitled “All Creation Danced in Answer”. The service, officiated by Dr. Richard J. Mouw, president of Fuller Seminary, included a 200-member choir conducted by Dr. Paul Salamunovich, former music director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
Dr. Lloyd John Ogilvie, known for his years as senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, chaplain of the U.S. Senate, and his television and radio ministry “Let God Love You”, gave the dedication address. His inspirational message, entitled “When Worship Happens Through Us”, focused on what it means for entire church communities to worship together in spirit and truth and emphasized the importance of worship leaders and pastors working together to plan this kind of renewing worship.
Carrying on the great legacy of Fred Bock, the institute fosters the creation of worship music and teaches the elements of effective worship leadership – encouraging excellence, respecting the variety of worship styles, and exploring culturally diverse worship.
Plans are currently underway to build a Worship Center at Fuller Seminary which will house the Fred Bock Institute, along with providing much needed classroom and rehearsal space.
A set of commemorative audio CDs of the service will be made available to all who contribute $50 or more to this exciting work.
