Reel Awards Ad 09THE 3RD ANNUAL REEL SPIRITUALITY AWARDS

Have you created a short film full of passion and imagination?   We’re searching for the most inspiring, important and imaginative films and videos created for ministry contexts. 

Cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded.
Winners will be screened at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood as part of the 15th City of the Angels Film Festival, Feb 27-March 1st.

 

•    Films may be in any genre--Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Animation, etc.—
        But should have been created for (or intended to be used) within the context of
        Christian ministry (i.e. church worship service, parachurch special event,
        Ministry tool/training, fundraising/awareness video etc.),
•   Self-sustained--that is, work should not be supplemental and should require no 
     outside set-up or explanation.
•   Under 15 minutes (including credits)
•   Shot on any format: 35mm, 16mm, 8mm, HD, digital video, etc.  But must be submitted on DVD  and be capable of projection on large screen
•   Entry Fee, $10.00 (per film)

Winners from last year included a commercial/PSA created by Compass Media, an animated film from the Veracity Project, a documentary entitled, "Homeless Karoake" by Iris Ichishita, and a music video from Craig Barker in Austraiia.  So join the competition today!

Reel Spirituality is a creative encounter between the church and Hollywood, featuring ministers and filmmakers in discovery of common ground as storytellers, image shapers, and culture makers.  It is an institute of the Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California.

THE 3RD ANNUAL LAFSC AWARDS

Have you or your students created a remarkable short film?   Are you eager toyou’re your strongest work compete against your peers?   The LAFSC Awards honor works of excellence by emerging filmmakers who attend schools in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU).  Last year, students from Azusa Pacific and George Fox University won the top prizes.

Cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded.
Winners will be screened at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood as
part of the 15th City of the Angels Film Festival, Feb 27-March 1st.

•  Films may be in any genre--Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Animation, etc.—
        But must have been created by students from CCCU schools who integrate a
        robust spirituality with excellent cinematic storytelling.
•   One professor or school administrator listed as a reference.
•   Projects created by within and outside of class assignments are eligible.
•   Under 15 minutes (including credits)
•   Shot on any format: 35mm, 16mm, 8mm, HD, digital video, etc.  But must be
       submitted on DVD and be capable of projection on large screen
•   Entry Fee, $10.00 (per film)

Los Angeles Film Studies Center (LAFSC) is a one-semester film intensive for students attending schools in the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU).  Located in one of the film and television production centers in L.A. and utilizing state of the art camera and editing equipment, LAFSC is designed to integrate a Christian worldview with an introductory exploration of the work and workings of mainstream Hollywood entertainment.
