Johnnie Carl’s beautiful arrangements and superb conducting set new levels of excellence for sacred music. He was conductor, composer and arranger of over 3,500 musical pieces throughout his 30 year career. His music brought joy to the millions of viewers around the world who watched the Crystal Cathedral’s Hour of Power television program each week. Johnnie’s rich legacy of musical works will continue to inspire future generations.

Mr. Carl’s music has been performed by such notables as Roger Williams, Celine Dion, David Foster, The London Symphony, John Tesh, Lee Greenwood, Michael Crawford and many others. He earned a gold record for his work as arranger/orchestrator on Live from Red Rocks (John Tesh) and a four-time platinum record for his work on These Are Special Times (Celine Dion). He was also musical director, composer and arranger for the Crystal Cathedral’s Glory of Christmas and Glory of Easter productions.

Mr. Carl, who studied choral and instrumental music at UCLA and USC, was deemed “a rare musical genius” by his mentor, Roger Wagner. Pianist and singer Ken Medema said, “Johnnie often took a song and gave it the ‘Johnnie Carl treatment.’ He can write it. He can sing it. He can make it sing.” Johnnie’s passion was to use his intellectual and emotional gifts to uplift, inspire and realize the power and glory of the Lord.
