“First Reformed” screening and Q&A with Paul Schrader

Reel Spirituality hosts writer/director Paul Schrader for a screening of his new film "First Reformed"

Join us for a free screening of filmmaker Paul Schrader's newest film, First Reformed. The screening will be at 7:30pm Monday, February 26 at the Arclight Pasadena (300 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91101).

An official selection of the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) that premiered to rave reviews, First Reformed is about a church minister and ex-military chaplain (Ethan Hawke) who struggles with his faith when a pregnant woman (Amanda Seyfried) and her radical environmentalist husband come to him for counselling. 


This is the latest film to deal with faith in the legendary career of Schrader, the writer of The Last Temptation of ChristTaxi Driver, and Raging Bull


The screening will be followed by a discussion with:
- Paul Schrader, Writer/Director of First Reformed
- Justin Chang, Film Critic for the Los Angeles Times
- Kutter Callaway, Assistant Professor of Theology and Culture at Fuller Seminary, and Co-Director of Reel Spirituality
