Paul Schrader, writer/director of First Reformed and writer of Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The Last Temptation of Christ among many others, will be on Fuller Seminary's campus for a lecture and discussion on the difference between religious and spiritual films.
RSVP for this free event (note: Please arrive early, as RSVP does not guarantee entry if auditorium reaches capacity).
Paul Schrader will begin with a lecture inspired by a new introduction for his seminal book Transcendental Style in Film: Ozu, Bresson, Dreyer. This classic text engages with the common ineffable qualities found in the culturally distinct works of cinematic master Yasujirō Ozu, Robert Bresson, and Carl Dreyer.
After his lecture, he will be joined in conversation by:
- Rob Johnston, Professor of Theology and Culture at Fuller Seminary, and Founder of Reel Spirituality
- Richard Mouw, President Emeritus and Professor of Faith and Public Life
This event will start at 7:30pm Tuesday, Feb 27 at Travis Auditorium. Don't forget to RSVP.
