This movie was awesome! I had such a good time at this midnight screening. It’s a pretty simple premise: Bloodsucking aliens terrorize the coast of Ireland and the only way to defeat them is by getting drunk. With this sort of set-up you know you’re in for a good time. We had a blast! I guess this also because after so many heavy docs and mellow-dramatic films it was great to simply see a popcorn film to sort of relax and have a good time. I noticed several tributes to classis sci-films such as Jurassic Park and Aliens. As far as theological reflections go, I don’t think there is much to reflect on in “Grabbers” and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Movies can move us deeply but lots of times they simply allow for a good time with friends. I enjoyed this movie with my two roommates Nate and Dave. Afterward we walked all the way to our home instead of taking the bus. All the while we were talking and laughing about the movie and just having a good time. If there’s one thing that I’m sure of is that these sorts of moments are from God.
