About Fred Bock

The heart of the Fred Bock Institute of Music is to engage the hearts and minds of musicians as they explore their musical gifts in the context of faith and theology. Courses of study will assist the musician in examining the place of music in life and faith, both historically and in modern context. Students will find opportunities for:

• expanding their musicianship through campus arts activities
• mentored leadership in the preparation of campus chapel services
• personal and group mentoring
For those active in worship ministry leadership beyond the
campus, there is a website of resource materials, as well as personal and professional growth opportunities through
periodic worship and music seminars.

Welcome to Jubal House Publications!

I suppose the first question to answer is, "Who or what is Jubal?" Here's the answer. In the Old Testament book of Genesis we find a reference in Chapter 4 to "...Jubal, the first musician - the inventor of the harp and flute." (NLT) In recorded biblical history, Jubal is the first musician! So then, Jubal House Publications is named after our early ancestor who initiated this great art that many enjoy and use as a tool for worshiping God - the art of music.

Beyond that, Jubal House Publications carries with it a strong desire to encourage creativity in worship and to share resources for use in worship ministry. Creativity is a great need in our 21st century world of worship. Fresh avenues and methods of connecting congregants with a great and creative God are always needed inside and outside of the church. Our hope and sincere prayer is that you will both find something useful in these resources, and also be provided with inspiration for creativity inside the worship world in which you have been placed.

Don't you think Jubal would be amazed at what his harp and flute invention began? And, by the way, Jubal has some opinions from time to time about music and worship. You can find out some of his thoughts at www.JubalsJottings.com.
