Fred Bock Institute: Worship Center
Worship Center
Fuller Worship and Arts Center
As we equip leaders for the manifold ministries of Christ’s church, the Fuller Worship Center is a priority in our commitment to improve the quality of worship and preaching throughout the Church.
Through the gifts, vision and leadership of William and Delores Brehm, Fuller Seminary has recently established the Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts to focus on the renewal and revitalization of worship in the Church worldwide.
The plan to build the Fuller Worship Center will accommodate this vibrant program and facilitate the study and discovery necessary to lead the way into the 21st century Church. The Worship Center will provide the capacity to convene, train, and inspire worship leaders, supporting Fuller’s agenda for global change.
Working in close collaboration with the award-winning architectural firm William McDonough + Partners, a Fuller leadership team has designed an innovative center. This world-class facility, utilizing the latest technologies, will house state-of-the-art preaching labs, classrooms, and places for worship and meditation.
Terraced gardens along the north side of the Worship Center will provide a quiet and tranquil place for individuals to spend time in prayer and reflection. Adjacent to the gardens will be the Louis Evans Prayer Garden, which includes a small, covered chapel with a stained-glass cross window, an adjoining set of carrels for individual meditation and prayer, and a running stream.
The Main Chapel and Meditation Chapel of the Worship Center will feature grand pianos and pipe/digital organs, designed by world-renowned organist Fred Swann and constructed by the R.A. Colby Company. The Main Chapel will be used for larger gatherings of the community, seating up to 500 people, while the Meditation Chapel will be reserved for smaller services and for prayer and meditation.
Carillon bells will be installed as the main artistic element in the entrance plaza of the center. Created especially for Fuller Seminary by the Australian Bell Company, this set of 31 harmonic and polytonal bells will be the first of its kind in the United States. Other musical instruments include a set of 24 hand bells, as well as pianos and keyboard for use in the preaching laboratories and rehearsal rooms.
