About LJO
The Lloyd John Ogilvie Institute of Preaching has been established to equip and enable a brave, bold breed of preachers for the 21st century church. The Institute recognizes the great need that society has for preachers who can preach with passion. In each three-day conference he will work with small, intimate groups as he draws on fifty years of preaching experience and speaks about the biblical meaning of passion

In addition to being the founder of the Institute of Preaching that bears his name. DR. LLOYD JOHN OGILVIE is president of Leadership Unlimited. During his years as the Chaplain of the U.S. Senate (1995-2003), he was the pastor of our nation’s leaders. He has been consistently on call as a speaker, writer, and resource consultant. He is a motivational speaker at business and professional conferences, leads clergy conferences and is a frequent preacher and speaker at churches, retreats and meetings. Dr. Ogilvie has authorized fifty-two books and was the General Editor of the thirty-three volume Communicators Commentary of the Bible.
Dr. Mark Labberton, newly appointed to the Ogilvie Chair of Preaching and Director of the Ogilvie Institute of Preaching, will host the Preaching with Passion conferences alongside Dr. Ogilvie. For over twenty-five years in pastoral ministry, most recently as the Senior Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley for the past seventeen years, Dr. Labberton cares deeply about the call and life of the preacher in relation to the Church and to the manifestations of the Kingdom of God in places of great need in the world. His book, The Dangerous Act of Worship: Living God’s Call to Justice (IVP, 2007) and his forthcoming book in 2010 on ‘the injustice of the heart’ convey some of the great passions he has for the gospel and for the need for preaching that seeks to transform lives to be servant agents of love and justice in our world
