Art in the Brehm Center!

The Brehm Center is currently showcasing art created by two students in response to their experiences in Orvieto, Italy - an installation piece by Olga Lah titled "Much Further to Go" and a painting by April Alkema titled "Christ Within."

A Decent Docent Doesn't Doze - a Talk with Fuller Grad Olga Lah

Olga Lah is training to become a docent at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The very same museum that introduced her to the splendor of art as a child. She and I talk about her love of art, arts education, the relationship between the Church and modern art, and the current exhibition at LACMA of contemporary Korean artists, YOUR BRIGHT FUTURE.

California Art Club Annual Gold Medal Exhibitions

The Brehm Center recommends the 97th Annual Gold Medal Juried Exhibition of the California Art Club. This exhibition is being held from April 27 - May 18, 2008 at the Pasadena Museum of California Art (PMCA), 490 East Union Street. The Brehm Center's artist-in-residence, Christopher Slatoff, won this year's Gold Medal for sculpture. PMCA passes available at the Brehm Center.

Two upcoming Arts conferences

Craig Detweiler, Reel Spirituality Co-Director, will participating in 2 upcoming Art conferences. These conferences GENERATIVE CREATIVITY: TRANSFORMING THE CULTURAL RIVER will be February 28 - March 1 in NYC and Transforming Culture will be April 1-3 in Austin, Texas. Photography and Final Cut Labs Offered this Fall

As the Fall Quarter quickly approaches, The Brehm Center will be offering two Labs: Basics of Photography taught by Shannon Leith and Working With Final Cut by Jonathan Sears. If you are interested in either learning about taking photographs or learning how to better harness the film editing software Final Cut, then we invite you to join us this Fall Quarter as we explore these art forms.

Miguel de Cervantes’s seventeenth-century masterpiece Don Quixote recounts the story of the pseudo-knight and his faithful and dim-witted sidekick Sancho Panza. Quixote, a fifty-something country gentleman enamored with the idea of knighthood, sets out in pursuit of adventure-undaunted by his age or the centuries-old death of chivalry.

April's interest in theology, art, and spiritual formation drew her to Fuller and the Brehm Center, but it was the summer program in Orvieto that confirmed that Fuller was the place to continue her studies.
